Genevieve Gave Me All the Feels at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn

By Wednesday, May 25, 2016 0 Permalink 0

Genevieve is currently out on tour in support of her new album “Show Your Colors” and recently played a show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn. At the last minute I decided to attend, and the show was everything that I wanted and more.

She sounds amazing, and while I only got a few videos, they are definitely worth watching/listening to because the entire show was incredible. Here’s more details on my amazing, plus my struggle with fitting in to the NYC music scene.

Memories of the First Hometown for the Holidays Event in 2006 #HTftH

By Wednesday, December 16, 2015 1 Permalink 0

Time and time again, I write about how I love this season because of KTCL 93.3′s Hometown for the Holidays. When listening to the Top 10, Nerf reminded me that this is the 10 year anniversary of this great contest and concert. I know I’ve been a longtime fan and supporter of this contest, but it wasn’t until I chatted with my parents that we figured out we’ve been listening and attending Hometown since the start in 2006. How was that 10 years ago already???

As we were talking, we realized we all had much different memories of KTCL’s first Hometown for the Holidays. Since we had all attended the event in 2006, I thought it would be great to have each of us write our memories of that year to share before the 10th Anniversary event.

Read below to see what each of us remember about Hometown for the Holidays and why.

93.3 KTCL’s Hometown for the Holidays 2015 #HTftH2015

Another year, another Hometown for the Holidays competition! This is something I look forward to each year because I love when locals get played on the radio, and the finale is one of the best parties of the year! Hometown for the Holidays really is the office party for the music scene, and I love being able to see everyone in one place, in support of local music.

This year feels a bit different though as I’ve recently moved to NYC, but will be back in Colorado for the finale – and I can’t wait to see everyone! Another reason this year feels different, there are so many new names! I love that this competition brings out so many new bands of different genres and styles – and that they make the top 10!

Here’s the top 10:
888
Covex & Enzalla
Hillary Hand
Foxfield Four
Mawule
Miguel Dakota & the Differents
OptycNerd
P O P F I L T E R
Redlands
Shatterproof

Recent Discovery and Obsession – PODCASTS!

Yes, I'm so late to the party, it's already getting started the next day before I arrive. However, I'm finally on board of the podcast party! All it took was breaking the radio in my car and missing KTCL, KBCO, and NPR on my commutes for this to happen. A few months ago the iDrive on my BMW stopped working. After over 2 months of having my car in and out of the shop (they had difficulties diagnosing the issue, had to order different parts, and Jon and I were traveling etc), and I got sick of driving in silence. (Don't worry, this issue has been ...

What an amazing weekend of music in Denver! Here’s a recap of some of my highlights from this 3 day festival at the National Western Complex, from great bands, fun after parties, and amazing friends. Thanks Riot Fest for coming back and bringing the Rodeo with you! Already looking forward to Riot Fest 2016!

#UMS2015 is a Wrap!

I cannot believe another Underground Music Showcase (UMS) is behind us. This was quite the year, and I’m so glad I got to see the bands I saw – new, old, familiar, unique – it was all fantastic! The week was a whirlwind, but pretty sure my tweets and videos suffice. Read more to find out where I went, who I saw and what I loved from #UMS2015.

KTCL’s Big Gig Top 12 Local Bands #BigGig15

KTCL Channel 93.3 was quite sneaky today: they sent out the Big Gig surveys, without any warning!

In years past KTCL has allowed the bands to get people to sign up for the music surveys in order to vote, but they seem to have changed the rules this year! I’d say go sign up now, but I’m not sure you’ll get this survey.

Here’s all of the bands, including the songs they submitted:

American Idol Hates Us In Colorado

By Wednesday, April 8, 2015 0 Permalink 0

It has been over 3 years since I wrote my rant on the Grammy's asking why they don't care about us in the Mountain Time Zone when it comes to Twitter, and NOTHING has changed! Earlier tonight, Aimee texted me about this Twitter vote that American Idol was holding for people to tweet who they wanted to keep on the show, during the last 5 minutes of the show. The problem? THE SHOW WAS ONLY LIVE FOR PEOPLE ON THE EAST COAST! That means that for those of us in the Mountain Time Zone, were not able to tweet our vote, or if we did tweet when the show ...

New Music Tuesday – Dead Sara – Pleasure To Meet You

Dead Sara is a band I’m currently obsessed with and SO excited that I was able to see them perform twice at SXSW 2015 – with my parents! They’re coming to Denver on April 10, 2015 to the Marquis Theatre and Wiredogs are opening. I bought tickets the day they came out, so I’m even more excited that my brother’s band will be opening, too! Take a listen to their new album, Pleasure to Meet You, as I haven’t stopped playing it all week. #obsessed
