93.3 KTCL’s Hometown for the Holidays 2015 #HTftH2015

Another year, another Hometown for the Holidays competition! This is something I look forward to each year because I love when locals get played on the radio, and the finale is one of the best parties of the year! Hometown for the Holidays really is the office party for the music scene, and I love being able to see everyone in one place, in support of local music.

This year feels a bit different though as I’ve recently moved to NYC, but will be back in Colorado for the finale – and I can’t wait to see everyone! Another reason this year feels different, there are so many new names! I love that this competition brings out so many new bands of different genres and styles – and that they make the top 10!

Here’s the top 10:
888
Covex & Enzalla
Hillary Hand
Foxfield Four
Mawule
Miguel Dakota & the Differents
OptycNerd
P O P F I L T E R
Redlands
Shatterproof

Read more to get a chance to listen to all of the songs! Who do you think will make the top 3?

Climb Hard Cider Company in Loveland Colorado

Since going paleo a few years ago, one thing I’ve missed is beer. I’ve replaced it with cider at home, but that isn’t always feasible when out at a bar with friends or co-workers and especially hard at concert venues. Yes, some places will have the generic ciders like Strongbow, Magners or Angry Orchard (which I refuse to drink), but those tend to be high in sugar and give me a killer headache the next day.

Luckily Colorado is home to many Cider companies, which include some of my favorites! Last weekend Jonathon and I took a little road trip up to Loveland Colorado to taste what Climb Cider Company had to offer.

SpokesBUZZ Incubator Sessions

I've previously written about how I recently joined the board of SpokesBUZZ, a nonprofit organization in Fort Collins whose mission includes amplifying music scenes and developing the professionalism of artists. SpokesBUZZ Incubator Sessions As part of the professional development series for their artists, they have a monthly incubator session where SpokesBUZZ brings in professionals to speak on topics ranging from trademarks, band agreements, marketing, taxes and more. I've had the pleasure of speaking on (three times over 4 years now) and attending many of these sessions (too many to count), and they are chock full of great information for bands. ASCAP, Lawyers, LLC's - Oh My! I recently ...

Review of the 10th Annual Bohemian Nights at New West Fest – #FoCoMusic

This past weekend was New West Fest which was started to celebrate the birthday of Fort Collins. This year Fort Collins turned 150! Lookin' good for 150 FoCo! It was also the 10th annual Bohemian Nights at New West Fest, and boy was it fun! Upgrades I love the upgrades that Bohemian Nights made including using the Mountain stage for the main stage on Friday and including a secondary stage at the Library for even more rock to start the weekend off right. In addition, the stage backgrounds were amazing. Think Starry Night over Horsetooth. And when the lights came out, it made it even more magical. Friday Unfortunately I ...
