Genevieve Gave Me All the Feels at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn

By Wednesday, May 25, 2016 0 Permalink 0

Genevieve is currently out on tour in support of her new album “Show Your Colors” and recently played a show at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn. At the last minute I decided to attend, and the show was everything that I wanted and more.

She sounds amazing, and while I only got a few videos, they are definitely worth watching/listening to because the entire show was incredible. Here’s more details on my amazing, plus my struggle with fitting in to the NYC music scene.

Recent Discovery and Obsession – PODCASTS!

Yes, I'm so late to the party, it's already getting started the next day before I arrive. However, I'm finally on board of the podcast party! All it took was breaking the radio in my car and missing KTCL, KBCO, and NPR on my commutes for this to happen. A few months ago the iDrive on my BMW stopped working. After over 2 months of having my car in and out of the shop (they had difficulties diagnosing the issue, had to order different parts, and Jon and I were traveling etc), and I got sick of driving in silence. (Don't worry, this issue has been ...

New Music Tuesday – Dead Sara – Pleasure To Meet You

Dead Sara is a band I’m currently obsessed with and SO excited that I was able to see them perform twice at SXSW 2015 – with my parents! They’re coming to Denver on April 10, 2015 to the Marquis Theatre and Wiredogs are opening. I bought tickets the day they came out, so I’m even more excited that my brother’s band will be opening, too! Take a listen to their new album, Pleasure to Meet You, as I haven’t stopped playing it all week. #obsessed

New Music Tuesday – Walk The Moon – Talking is Hard

Already this week I've given you 11 great new tracks from local, Denver artists that made it into Hometown for the Holiday, but I couldn't resist sharing this album with you all as well. Walk The Moon's Talking is Hard came out over a week ago, but I can not stop listening to it. This was the perfect album to get me through the short flight to Salt Lake City last week, and I'm sure it will make its way into my playlist when I fly to New York later this week. So far my favorite song is track number 4, Up 2 U. I love ...

FitBit Force versus Jawbone Up24

By Wednesday, November 5, 2014 2 Permalink 0

I'm in a fight with FitBit. I have been for awhile now. I bought the Force last year, (yes, the one that was recalled), and was SO excited to use it! I wanted to track steps during SXSW, work trips, conferences, music festivals and just daily life. I specifically picked the Force for a few reasons, but the main reason I picked the Force over the FitBit Flex because the Flex didn't have a display, even though it was thinner. I loved that the Force band showed different features like the time, steps, stairs and more. Another big reason was because many of friends had FitBits and ...

Foo Fighters Sonic Highways Premiere on HBO

By Friday, October 17, 2014 1 Permalink 0

Wow. There really are no words for the first episode of Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways. It was amazing. Made even more amazing because today is the 20th anniversary of Dave Grohl going into a studio and recording the first Foo Fighters album. I loved how Sonic Highways reviewed the history of Chicago music starting with blues and transitioning to punk, showed the Foo Fighters' process of recording songs like Something From Nothing and interviewed people who were so influential in the formation of Foo Fighters and their songs. The end of Sonic Highways was my favorite as the band played Something From Nothing with Dave's lyrics superimposed ...

Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness – Cecilia and the Satellite

By Friday, July 18, 2014 0 Permalink 1

On Sunday I had the privilege of seeing Andrew McMahon at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins. I've been listing to his music now for over a decade and have seen him perform in many band iterations in a few different states. I am also pretty sure the first show I ever crowd surfed at was a Something Corporate show in college. Those were the days. Now I cringe at the thought of crowd surfing. During his set he played songs from Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, Andrew McMahon and even played a few new songs with his new band Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness. One of ...

Grammys – Stop Treating Us Like We Do Not Matter!

By Sunday, February 12, 2012 1 Permalink 0

I am fortunate to live in such a great state. I am even more fortunate to be visiting my Grama in Arizona this weekend! However, the Grammys have decided to treat us all, in the Mountain Time Zone (edit: and Pacific Time Zone), as people who do not matter. Why? Because we are the ONLY time zone(s) that does not get to see the Grammys performed live! Why does this matter? In case you didn't realize, it is 2012. If you are 27 minutes late with the news, you are old school. Add another 33 minutes on to that? Chopped liver. So, why do the Grammys insist ...

It’s the little things…

...that make me happy. When listening to Jimmy Eat World this morning I clicked on similar artists, and there was Tickle Me Pink!! I was so excited to see them listed with such great artists. var _qevents = _qevents || []; (function() { var elem = document.createElement('script'); elem.src = (document.location.protocol == "https:" ? "https://secure" : "http://edge") + ".quantserve.com/quant.js"; elem.async = true; elem.type = "text/javascript"; var scpt = document.getElementsByTagName('script'); scpt.parentNode.insertBefore(elem, scpt); })(); _qevents.push({ qacct:"p-22mpDezYQm3aQ" }); (more…)
