Happy Foursquare Day!

By Tuesday, April 16, 2013 0 Permalink 0

I've been a fan and user of Foursquare since they started at SXSW many years ago (ok, 4 years ago). They've deemed today to be 4sqDay day (4/16...get it?). This year they've introduced a fun little visualization of your past years checkins. Just go to https://foursquare.com/visualizeme and log in to see what you've been up to since the last Foursquare day. (more…)

How To Embed A Pinterest Board On Your Blog

By Tuesday, March 26, 2013 24 Permalink 0

Recently, I've stopped creating Google Docs of links to blog posts around certain topics and started to use Pinterest to keep all of the information in one spot. You can see my most recent post on How to Ditch the Shampoo and the Pinterest board there. Rather than link to the board, I figured it would be better to visually feature it. I was going to take a screenshot, until I remembered that Pinterest now allows for people to not only embed Pin It buttons, but also Pinterest profiles, individual pins and Pinterest boards! (more…)

How To Ditch The Shampoo and Go No ‘Poo!

By Monday, March 25, 2013 2 Permalink 0

I'll still never forget the time when Jon and I were going to stay in his apartment before going on a trip and we had the following conversation: Me: "Do you have conditioner in your apartment, or do I need to pack my own?" Jon: "I know we just got married, and I promise I am not a crazy hippie type, but I don't wash my hair." Me: "Ok, so bring shampoo and conditioner is what you are saying to me." So I brought my own and didn't think about it again. Until a few weeks later when I stumbled upon a blog post talking about going 'No 'Poo'. I then ...

How to Verify Your Account on Pinterest

By Sunday, February 24, 2013 0 Permalink 0

I am not one to spend too much time on Pinterest. To be fair, I think I stay away because I know myself well. I will get addicted. I've already lost a few weekends to some crafts, that I just *had* to do....right now. That being said, I can't seem to stay away from any social networks, especially those being used in marketing. When I was watching the Daytona 500 today, I noticed an ad from Lowe's. It was the first time (that I can recall) I had seen the Pinterest logo being used at the end of an ad. It definitely piqued my interest, so I immediately ...

Harlem Shake – Website Version and My Favorite Videos

By Thursday, February 14, 2013 0 Permalink 0

I was debating even writing this post as this meme seems to have *almost* run its course. But then the internet (Techcrunch/Moovweb) shared this gem. You can now make ANY site do the Harlem Shake. So far my favorite site has been CNN's. Click this link (and then click agree, I promise it isn't harmful) and see CNN shake, in all their glory. Want to see your blog do the Harlem Shake? It's easy. Just visit Moovweb and follow their instructions. This is the gift that will just keep giving! (more…)

Don’t Be Lazy – And Why It Matters On Pinterst

By Tuesday, February 5, 2013 0 Permalink 0

After I got married, I adopted the Paleo diet (I mean if my husband is going to cook, of course I am going to eat it!). After a few weeks I figured I should start contributing and finally start utilizing Pinterest, so I went on the search for yummy Paleo meals to pin to his board. It didn't take me long to realize a few things. 1) I am a lazy pinner. I hate that I am forced to add content to the piece before I can pin it. 2) Others are just as lazy as me when it comes to blog posts, especially images (trust me, I ...

Selling To Me In A Digital World

By Tuesday, June 14, 2011 0 Permalink 0

My inbox is constantly filling up with requests from people asking 'for just 15 minutes of your day' for a phone call, or a brief introduction to their services that they are trying to sell me. Most of these emails are immediately archived or trashed, never to receive a response from me. I have honestly stopped reading most of them as people spell my name wrong, email me from a gmail account instead of a company URL, or are clearly cutting and pasting from previous emails to other people (it shows up in blue people! Come on!). Recently though, I have had a few people actually take ...

Keepstream Review

I use my Twitter favorites more often then not as a 'read later' or 'don't forget to share this with so and so later' more than a 'I love this tweet!' Then I usually forget to go back and read the article or share the photos with anyone. I favorite tweets for different reasons, think it will be useful at work, it is about a band I like, I want to share it with someone etc. There are different reasons that I try to keep straight in my head, but I sometimes forget why I marked a tweet or article. Earlier today I read an article ...
