Denver ROCKS!

By Thursday, October 13, 2011 2 Permalink 0

Literally, according to the latest list released from Pollstar of the Top 100 Clubs Venues. (Isn't the name a little redundant?). The Ogden was listed #6 in sales for 2011 so far! Number 6...out of 100...out of the WHOLE U.S.! Yes, they say that some ampitheatres were not counted, which I prefer, because who wants to look at a list that shows Pepsi, Sports Authority and other nondescript brand names in the form of field, center etc. Also on the list from Colorado are the Boulder Theatre, Fox Theatre, Fillmore, Bluebird and Summit Music Hall. Woot! Go Colorado! Sounds awesome right? Then I started to think about it. What ...

Duran Duran – All You Need Is Now Tour

By Saturday, October 8, 2011 1 Permalink 0

Last Tuesday, I *gasp* went to a concert! But this wasn't my normal, local band concert, it was Duran Duran! Now, while the majority of my concerts are small, local shows, I have been to my fair share of shows at stadiums. In the past few years I have seen Tom Petty, U2, The Cars, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, John 'Cougar' Mellencamp and more that I can't seem to remember right now (I really need to start a list). Anyways, I was a little hesitant to go to this show because I wasn't sure how good Duran Duran would be live, but I have to say, I was impressed! ...

New Music Tuesday – Sleeper Agent’s Celebrasion

By Wednesday, September 28, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Out today is Sleeper Agent's first full length album Celebrasion. Last week I had the pleasure of seeing Sleeper Agent perform at Moe's Original BBQ in Englewood. While I was only vaguely aware of the band prior to the concert, I am still surprised that they played such a small venue! Guaranteed the next time they come through, it will be at a much bigger venue. Who is Sleeper Agent? They are a garage-rock/pop band from Kentucky who are so incredibly talented and very young! That does not mean that they are not versed in the industry, I mean they are friends with local Bowling Green band, ...

Flobots.org Bowling Ball 3 – Saturday, October 8th

By Monday, September 26, 2011 1 Permalink 0

UPDATE: ONE REPUBLIC HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE CELEBRITY BOWLERS AND TICKETS ARE BUY ONE GET ONE FOR A LIMITED TIME! Last year Tickle Me Pink was one of the featured bands that bowled in the Flobots.org annual fundraising event, so of course I had to go! I went on the condition that I photographed the event for the band (and come on, who better to document an event than me?!). This year is shaping up to be just as fun! I mean, Tickle Me Pink won't be there, but have you seen the list of local celebs that will be there? During the final celebrity round last ...

Wavves Concert at Moe’s BBQ!!

By Thursday, September 22, 2011 0 Permalink 0

We just got word that the band Wavves is coming to Moe's BBQ on October 6th. This show is going to be huge, as this band has been growing like crazy in the last year with their songs being featured on MTV's show Awkward. This should be a fantastic show that you don't want to miss out on. Who is Wavves? Read their Bio (courtesy of Rdio): Named for his fear of the ocean, Wavves, the skuzzy project of San Diego slacker Nathan Williams, is a blend of distorted no-fi and refined sunshiny melodies. Charmingly messy, most of his lyrics, while difficult to decipher, generally revolve around the ...

TEDxBoulder

By Wednesday, September 21, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Coming this Saturday is TEDxBoulder at Mackey Auditorium. I have never had the opportunity to attend a TED or TEDx, so I am really excited that I finally get to go to this one! You have probably heard of TEDx, but in case you haven't, here is the definition from the TEDxBoulder website: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED ...

Boulder Beta and a Concert!

By Thursday, September 15, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Today is shaping up to be a fantastic day! Not only is it my brother's birthday (go buy his album INCA now!!) but it is the date for Boulder Beta, and there is a local show (no surprise there) in BOULDER! (Gasp!) What is Boulder Beta? I am glad you asked. This is an event that was started by Tim Falls in February of this year. Boulder Beta is a mix of startups in the area showcasing their ideas/products/etc in a casual, social atmosphere where they can gain real, honest feedback. It is also a great place to network, see old friends, make new ones and, of ...

New Music: INCA

By Saturday, September 10, 2011 2 Permalink 0

Starting this review out with full disclosure: Yes, this is my brother's newest gig. That is where the bias ends. I love these songs and would whether or not we were related. As of this morning, you can hear Inca, the new collaboration between Stefan Runstrom and Joey Barba, featuring vocals by Randy Ramirez. These two songs were recorded at Colorado Sound before Stefan moved out to Chicago (no, I am not bitter...at all). One of my favorite parts of the song Eye of the Storm is about 3 minutes in. This is when you can feel the music start to swirl around you as it ...

The Foot. Covers Adele’s Rolling In The Deep

By Wednesday, August 31, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Yes, this song is probably the most covered song of the summer and honestly, I am getting a little sick of it. Most bands/artists that cover this song haven't given it their own sound. They cover it just to cover it because of its popularity. However, Denver band The Foot. adds their own unique sound and style to Adele's song Rolling In The Deep. What do you think?

I really do not know what just happened to my ears. Gotta hand it to Jack White, he sure does know how to pick his collaborations. Insane Clown Posse - Leck Mich Im Arsch by Third Man Records Now to go listen to something more upbeat (say Koo Koo Kanga Roo maybe?) And to get the ICP visuals out of your head, here is video from when Koo Koo Kanga Roo came through Denver:
