My First iPad!

Yesterday I went and waited in line to buy the new iPad that operates on both wifi and 3G. They went on sale at 5:00pm at the local stores, and since I didn’t have the foresight to pre-order mine online I had to wait in line. It was a bit chilly, took about 45 minutes, but it was worth it!

So far I love my new toy and all of the incredible apps that are built for the iPad, but in order to get the most out of it, I want to be able to take it around with me. Right now I can’t just throw it in my purse because I do not want to scratch up this beautiful new device, so clearly I need a case.

I went to the Apple store this morning to buy one, and was incredibly disappointed by the lack of options, as well as the poor craftsmanship of the cases that were available. I had read some reviews online prior to going to the store that said the Incase zipper cases were quite big and roomy and did not seem like something that would work for me. There was another case made by Incase however that just slips on the iPad that seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.

Clutching my iPad like it was a delicate baby, I walked into the Apple store ready to buy a cover. I found both Incase options and could tell immediately that the zipper case was way too big. I then found the slip on case, which was perfect! Before I bought it I figured it would be a good idea to try it on my iPad to make sure it fit. It was a bit hard to get on initially, but once I got it on I realized that then opening never really closes while the iPad is in it! The little slit allows the iPad to peak out from the opening just a little bit which would make it easy to get scratched up in my purse. I was so disappointed that the ‘perfect’ iPad case was a bust. Not only that, but they were out of the Apple branded iPad case and all of the other cases were too bulky, or only covered the back.

I left the store disappointed in my lack of options and the poor quality of the current cases. While I haven’t used the Incase slider case, I would not recommend it if you are concerned with keeping your iPad scratch free.

So far I am leaning to buying this Marware envelope case, but would love some other opinions! Did I mention I need it by Wednesday?
