Foo Fighters Sonic Highways Premiere on HBO

Wow. There really are no words for the first episode of Foo Fighters' Sonic Highways. It was amazing. Made even more amazing because today is the 20th anniversary of Dave Grohl going into a studio and recording the first Foo Fighters album. I loved how Sonic Highways reviewed the history of Chicago music starting with blues and transitioning to punk, showed the Foo Fighters' process of recording songs like Something From Nothing and interviewed people who were so influential in the formation of Foo Fighters and their songs. The end of Sonic Highways was my favorite as the band played Something From Nothing with Dave's lyrics superimposed ...

New Music Tuesday came a bit late this week, but it was worth the wait as it's from the Foo Fighters! Take a listen to their new song, "Something From Nothing" now: The full album comes out on November 10th - just in time for my birthday! You better believe I've already pre-ordered this one! What do you think of this new Foo Fighter song?

Kill the Artist Hype the Trash – Wiredogs EP

By Tuesday, July 22, 2014 0 Permalink 0

Obviously I'm a little biased here as my bro is the drummer, but I absolutely love this Kickstarter video Wiredogs did for their upcoming campaign. Watch it now: Iggy Pop Did you watch the video? No? Well, there is a great story about Stefan working at Riot Fest last year and driving around Iggy Pop. While Stefan has MANY stories about Iggy Pop (buy him a drink sometime, I'm sure he will gladly tell you about his time spent driving Iggy around), I really like this one as it is the inspiration for the title of their new EP. I'd repeat the story here, but you really ...

Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness – Cecilia and the Satellite

By Friday, July 18, 2014 0 Permalink 1

On Sunday I had the privilege of seeing Andrew McMahon at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins. I've been listing to his music now for over a decade and have seen him perform in many band iterations in a few different states. I am also pretty sure the first show I ever crowd surfed at was a Something Corporate show in college. Those were the days. Now I cringe at the thought of crowd surfing. During his set he played songs from Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, Andrew McMahon and even played a few new songs with his new band Andrew McMahon and the Wilderness. One of ...

Google+ Hangout With Juan, SomeAudioGuy, to Talk Noiselace Earplug Necklaces!

By Thursday, July 3, 2014 0 Permalink 0

My last live video chat was with Huffington Post about No 'Poo, and was a little more stressful than my chat yesterday with Juan, but I think I'm getting the hang of it! Juan, SomeAudioGuy and SomeGadgetGuy online, and I met at the magical FireFly Music Festival a few weeks ago and hit it off immediately! Mainly because we tweeted pre-festival about bringing ear plugs. Easy to get along with someone else who wants to protect their ears! We were going to do a video interview at FireFly, but ran out of time as we were running around trying to see all of the bands. So instead we ...

My Weekend Spent Glamping with Nokia at Firefly Music Festival

By Sunday, June 29, 2014 0 Permalink 0

It has been at least 5 years since I've been camping and probably closer to 8 years since I slept in a sleeping bag (car 'camping' was more my style), so I really wasn't sure what to expect from glamping this last weekend, but luckily I was not disappointed. I mean, look at Aimee and my tent - 2 beds, side tables, two chairs and another another table. Oh, and did I mention outlets? Because let's face it, you can't tweet and take video at a concert without power! And, the tents locked, keeping our stuff safe as we enjoyed the music every day. Now, let ...

This is Where I Leave You Trailer and Book by Jonathan Tropper

By Tuesday, June 3, 2014 0 Permalink 0

One of my favorite books from the last few years is This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper. I've always been a big reader and growing up I was the kid who would bring a book to the kitchen table and bought a book light so I could read in the car to and from wherever we were going. I just couldn't stop reading and the minute I ended a book I had to start another one. Unfortunately these days I don't get to read as much as I'd like, but when I do take a relaxing beach vacation, I can get through 5 ...

Royal Teeth and American Authors at Larimer Lounge

By Monday, June 24, 2013 1 Permalink 0

I didn't know who Royal Teeth were until Aimee invited me to go see them with her. I absolutely loved their song Wild, so of course I said yes. They were even more impressive in concert! They had this great energy on stage and I loved all of the percussion instruments they used (I'm a drum girl after all). Here's some video Aimee shot last time they played at Larimer Lounge: (more…)
