Google adds their own ‘like’ button to searches Google +1

Google just added their own version of a 'like' to search results: Google +1. It is currently accessible via an opt-in experiment. After the experiment is turned on, you have a '+1' button next to search results. When you click +1 you get this pop up: Here is how it appears on my search after I have '+1'd' the result. Not sure how it will appear to you or my friends (or whatever term Google calls friends, followers, fans etc): At first I was a bit skeptical about the social sharing that Google implemented a few months ago, but I really like seeing what people have shared on Twitter ...

How Chevrolet and their employees saved my SXSW 2011

By Sunday, March 27, 2011 1 Permalink 0

On Tuesday, March 15th during SXSW, I woke up early (we will say it was around 10 am, which is early by SXSW standards) and checked my phone. The battery was at 9% despite having been plugged in all night long! I assumed the outlet I had been using just wasn't working, so I rolled over and used my brother's iPhone charger since his phone was at 100%. After plugging it in, it vibrated and showed the charging icon, so I rolled back over and continued to sleep. 30 minutes later when I woke up, my phone was still only at 8%! It was at this ...

What Music Scene?

By Friday, February 18, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Let's face it, the music scene here in Boulder is, well, lacking. Okay even that is being a too nice. The music scene here sucks. There is no community for bands and artists, and even if there was a small, supportive one, there are no venues to accommodate local bands. When I think of venues in Boulder, I think of the Fox Theatre, Boulder Theater, Club 156 and maybe the Brick House at Lazy Dog. Both the Fox and Boulder theaters are too big for most local artists and likely too expensive to them as well. I have never been to Club 156, and the few times ...

Oops… I got a parking ticket

By Wednesday, February 16, 2011 0 Permalink 0

I am currently trying to get my life in order and organized and unfortunately part of that process is paying bills and past due parking tickets. I have no idea where the actual tickets are, so I found the Boulder Parking website and tried to enter my license plate number hoping it would pull up my ticket(s) (yes there was more than one). But without the citation number, this is as far as I could get: So I did what anyone (in Boulder) would do. I tweeted: The only response I received (besides some retweets) was from Boulder Parking: But unfortunately that was the link went to the ...

My weekend: setting up an online store for Tickle Me Pink

By Tuesday, August 17, 2010 2 Permalink 0

Recently I have taken over the task of helping out my brother's band, Tickle Me Pink, with the huge task of opening their own online marketplace to sell their merchandise to fans all over the US. Despite the fact that I work for an e-commerce website (DrillSpot.com), starting a new store from scratch is a ton of work! While I have been researching different platforms over the past few weeks that offer easy back-end systems that allow you to sell products online, it was not until this weekend that I decided on which one we were going to use, BigCartel.com. Originally I wanted to use Bandzoogle.com, but after ...

BOCC and why I will be going Tuesday

By Monday, August 16, 2010 0 Permalink 0

A few weeks ago I decided that I would make a point to get up early and head over to Atlas Purveyors forĀ Boulder Open Coffee Club. I decided to go for a few reasons, the biggest being that I wanted to do something new that allowed me to meet other local people. BOCC was a good outing as many of the people I follow on Twitter regularly attend and over the past few months I had grown curious as to what exactly this BOCC event was. Truthfully when I got to Atlas that morning I had absolutely no idea what to expect from Boulder Open Coffee Club ...
