It's that time of year again!! Honestly I get more excited for the announcement of Hometown for the Holidays bands than I do for Christmas! I mean, the number of times I blog about it should tell you something. Tonight KTCL will be announcing the top 10 bands at Not So Silent Night at the First Bank Center. I will not be there (yes, I failed to obtain tickets before they sold out), but I have a few friends who will be texting me...as they are announced (no, I can't wait for the official announcement). I know you want to rate these bands, so go sign up ...
Uber Comes to Denver
Since Uber's launch in Denver, I have only had the pleasure of ordering one ride, but I can't wait to use it more. When I was in NYC for BlogHer, I rode in many Uber cars thanks to my friend George. It was so nice and easy! The cars were clean, the drivers were always super nice one had even had two iPhone chargers for us to use! (more…)
93.3 KTCL’s Big Gig Top 10 Locals Only Contest
I really love all that 93.3 KTCL does for local bands. Yes, they are a Clear Channel station, but do you know how many local shows the DJ's attend? It is a lot and it is impressive. Not only do the DJ's attend shows, the station also holds contests and allow local bands to open for their Big Gig concert every year. They have just announced the top 10 locals who are in the running to open for this years show which includes acts like Silversun Pickups, The Hives, The Wombats and more! So now it is up to YOU to help these bands make it! In ...
BlogFrog Ladies
I haven't written about BlogFrog on here since I started, but if you follow me on Twitter, you have seen the countless tweets about #blogfrogbuddies or #overheardatblogfrog and more where I am just gushing about what a great team we have here. Here is proof of some of the amazing women I work with, taken at Brianne's reception last week: Aren't we adorable and fun? I think so! Also, did I mention that BlogFrog is hiring? Check out all of the great positions we have available. You can't say you wouldn't want to work with such a fun crowd!
That post in which I declare I will start working out
Except that it has now been 11 weeks of working out! Proof here: Instead of writing about this way back when I started Pilates, I waited. Mainly because I had people like LeVar and my mom who didn't think I would commit and continue. To be fair to them both, there is a lot that I start and don't finish. Blogs. Movies. Knitting Projects. Books. Working Out. The list is long, but I am proud to say that this blog isn't going by the wayside, and neither is Pilates! I am attributing my love of Pilates on a few factors: The teachers there are amazing! Most of my lessons ...
A New Giggety-Gig(gety)
So, some of you already know this, but in case you have not heard, I have a new full time gig! Last week was my first week being a full-time employee of BlogFrog! For the past month, I have worked with BlogFrog as a contractor, and after my contract was up, they offered me a permanent position! What exactly is BlogFrog? This isn't the easiest thing to explain in a few words, so I will borrow some words from a recent writeup from The Next Web on what BlogFrog is: There are literally millions of blogs around the Internet, many with similar interests, feel and audiences, and yet there’s ...
TEDxBoulder
Coming this Saturday is TEDxBoulder at Mackey Auditorium. I have never had the opportunity to attend a TED or TEDx, so I am really excited that I finally get to go to this one! You have probably heard of TEDx, but in case you haven't, here is the definition from the TEDxBoulder website: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED ...
Boulder Beta and a Concert!
Today is shaping up to be a fantastic day! Not only is it my brother's birthday (go buy his album INCA now!!) but it is the date for Boulder Beta, and there is a local show (no surprise there) in BOULDER! (Gasp!) What is Boulder Beta? I am glad you asked. This is an event that was started by Tim Falls in February of this year. Boulder Beta is a mix of startups in the area showcasing their ideas/products/etc in a casual, social atmosphere where they can gain real, honest feedback. It is also a great place to network, see old friends, make new ones and, of ...
New Goal For The Summer (Thanks Aimee)
I have been thinking about this for awhile now (and actively trying to achieve this new goal), but I have decided that I need to take more photos and video of my life. I know what you are thinking. You are thinking "But, Monika, you have over 350 videos on YouTube, countless photos on Flickr and always have a camera in your massive purse!" Yes, this may be true, however, how many of those photos feature me with my friends, just hanging out and having a good time? Not very many. The only photos of myself are the vanity Instagram pics that end up being my ...
Boulder – Come Out and Play
This Thursday! Come hang out with me at (where else) a concert! Fort Collins band Fierce Bad Rabbit will be making the trek to Boulder to play at the Brickhouse (next to Lazy Dog). Here is video of Fierce Bad Rabbit playing the Westword showcase at SXSW:
