I heard the snippet for this song earlier in the week and couldn't wait to hear the whole thing. This song is the definition of a James Bond theme song, but I love it. I didn't really watch the video as the lyrics aren't really that hard to figure out, but this song just might be on repeat for me today.
New Music Tuesday (OK, Fine, Wednesday) – Grouplove
Yeah, I *was* doing well last week, and then I missed Friday's post, and then I forgot to post yesterday. But to make up for it, I have a FREE concert to go along with New Music Tuesday Wednesday. Grouplove has been around since 2010 but have been gaining in popularity, especially after their song Tongue Tied was in an Apple iPod Touch commercial. After listening to the album, I am sure you'll agree that this will be a great show: Here is their video for Tongue Tied: They are playing the Chipotle Cultivate Festival on Saturday, October 6 at 3:45. So come to Denver, go check out ...
Another Reason Rdio Rocks
I love Rdio. This last weekend I drove to Montrose with my friend Joni and I have to say, our 90's playlist literally entertained us for hours (10+)! Having the ability to easily find those songs you love (or loved) with just a few searches is priceless, really. That being said, I also struggle with Rdio because I know what a drain it is for local artists. It takes time and effort to get your songs on there. Then you have to convince your fans to go to Rdio.com to listen to your songs. And then you get paid. Cents. Like nothing. Have you ever looked at the ...
New Music Thursday – Andrew McMahon
Another day, another band breaks up. Jack's Mannequin is no longer a band, but I have faith that Andrew will continue to make more music. Just listen to this song that he just recorded on a whim: His story of the song: one last song I have been well aware, throughout my career, how rare it is for a musician to have such a genuine connection with the people who support them. The reaction to the final JM shows have certainly crystalized those realizations. There is little I could do to express my gratitude for this, but if anything, this is a small token. Late one night ...
Fun Music Video – Fierce Bad Rabbit’s Bad Day
Hopefully you aren't having a bad day or week, but if you are, this video will certainly brighten your day! Fierce Bad Rabbit have put together such an amazing video that will surely put a smile on your face. While on tour a few years ago, they stopped a sushi restaurant that has one of those conveyor belts that goes around the restaurant full of sushi. Their friend and photographer was with them and thought it would be fun to see what would happen if he put his camera on the belt and shot a video. This was the result: Wasn't it perfect? I love watching the reactions ...
New Music Wednesday – Imagine Dragons
If you are friends with me on Facebook, or follow me on Rdio, you know that this band has been on repeat for me for the past few weeks. I first heard Imagine Dragons on 93.3 a few months ago, but it wasn't until I heard that they were opening for Awolnation that I actually listened to their EP. I fell in LOVE with it! I was bummed when I found out that their two nights at Summit Music Hall were sold out before I got tickets. C'est la vie. Here is the EP I fell in love with: And here is their brand new album that came ...
New Music Monday – Go Radio
I know I am probably one of the last people who listen to the radio as often as I do, but I love it! The other day at work I was listening to 93.3 online, and instead of playing a million commercials, they play more music! I have discovered many bands, both local and national, through listening to 93.3 via iheartradio.com. The latest discovery was Go Radio. I know, I know. Where have I been? This is the song I fell in love with, Go To Hell: Then I discovered that they have covered Adele as well: And? Their album just came out last Tuesday: Even better? I found ...
New Music and A Kick-Ass Show for $9.33
Ok, so a few weeks ago I declared that I was going to bring you new music each Tuesday that I was digging. Unfortunately, I suck, and haven't been the best at keeping up with my end of the bargain, although I have found many new bands, songs and artists. So all this week, I am going to share the songs that I am obsessed with, or acts that I have recently discovered. Hopefully after this week I will get back into the habit of posting new music every week! Today I give you I Fight Dragons. Not only do they cover killer songs like Power of ...
SummerGrind.
Pretty recently we had the opportunity (thanks to some of our favorite people in the scene) to attend the annual SummerGrind Music Festival. While I know that we are labeled as "indie bitches", I've always tended to be more of a punk rock bitch. The second that I heard that Leftover Crack, Orphans, Elway, and Potato Pirates were all going to be at the same venue in one day, in the sun, where I was able to get both BBQ and beer - I was first to sign up. Bands like these are by no means for the soft-hearted, they're practically what get me going every ...
93.3 KTCL’s Big Gig Top 10 Locals Only Contest
I really love all that 93.3 KTCL does for local bands. Yes, they are a Clear Channel station, but do you know how many local shows the DJ's attend? It is a lot and it is impressive. Not only do the DJ's attend shows, the station also holds contests and allow local bands to open for their Big Gig concert every year. They have just announced the top 10 locals who are in the running to open for this years show which includes acts like Silversun Pickups, The Hives, The Wombats and more! So now it is up to YOU to help these bands make it! In ...
