Monika and Jonathon McMahon – 11/13/12

Yup!

We got married!

We know some (most) of you are shocked and maybe a bit concerned. We are sorry if this is the first you are learning about this as well. We tried to tell everyone that was close to us personally, but we just couldn’t keep the news to ourselves anymore!

Please know that it’s not that we did not want you involved, the opposite is true. However, in such a short timeframe we could not have organized an event that would have included all of you in a meaningful way. Please do not take not knowing personally. We love you.

We also know that you are bound to have a million questions for us, and while we are happy to answer them, we will be turning off our phones for the weekend and heading out of the state.

In the meantime, here’s a simple timeline of how this marriage came to be. We hope to celebrate with you all in the coming weeks and months!

I don’t know y’all, was linked here through Greeblemonkey.

I wanted to say congratulations, and I wish you the best. My husband and I secretly eloped after dating for less than two months. He proposed 10 days after the first date. People thought we were crazy, that we wouldn’t last 6 months. That was 13 1/2 years ago. :)

THIS IS SUCH A DELIGHTFUL STORY! Seriously. I was giggling through it like a Hugh Grant film. (Shutup. I LOVE Hugh Grant films.)

I suppose I should add: Best of luck with the haters, naysayers, jealous asshats, and whoever else tries to spoil your joy for whatever reason. Rest assured that everyone has to deal with that crap, though. I mean, it’s where all the ridiculous wedding customs (cake, white dress, etc) come from anyhow. Haters be hatin’. Psh.

I’m beyond elated for you both and can’t wait to see this joyful story continue to unfold!

ZOMG. I saw your FB update and thought, “I had no idea Monika was engaged!” I waited 7 weeks before letting my now-husband talk me into marrying him and that was 11 years ago. Sometimes you just KNOW it’s right.

I wish you a lifetime of happiness and joy (and really good live concerts)! :)

    I think it’s great–congratulations!

I knew an old lady who went out on a first date during WWII. The eloped that night!

She had a different date for the next night and had to call him and tell him she couldn’t make it because she was married.

That couple stayed married 50 years, til death did they part.

    Mozel tov!
