Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps – Paleo Recipe

By Friday, August 16, 2013 0 Permalink 0

One food I love and crave at least once a month are wings. In high school I would go to Jim's Wings in Fort Collins every week for their .25 cent wings. Those were the days. Everyone I knew would be there, stuffing their faces and getting hot sauce and ranch all over their hands and cheeks. Most chicken wings at restaurants aren't really Paleo since they come breaded and instead of baking chicken wings, I decided to dig out the crockpot and make some shredded buffalo chicken. A quick Google/Pinterest search didn't find any Paleo recipes to I made one up. It turned out to be ...

What Paleo Means to Me

By Wednesday, August 14, 2013 5 Permalink 0

Over the past few weeks I've been randomly tracking the #paleo hashtag on Twitter. It is amazing to me the stereotypes that people attribute to this 'diet'. Firstly, I don't call it a diet. It isn't a 7 day detox, or 30 day diet designed to help me lose weight. I view it as a lifestyle because it has literally changed my life. I'll admit that I was skeptical when Jonathon talked about it after we got married. I thought it was weird. No bread? No pasta? No BEER? No way was I going to eat the same way he did. Those of you that are ...

Rdio’s New Radio Feature

By Saturday, August 10, 2013 0 Permalink 0

Rdio has been my streaming music site of choice for quite some time now, and earlier this week they released an awesome new feature! While I enjoy being able to select bands, songs or albums to listen to, but sometimes when I am working I just want music to play and not repeat the same album over and over. Generally when I feel this way I just switch to Pandora.com and create a new station. Every once and a while I'll even use the iHeartRadio app and listen to 93.3 KTCL on my phone. However I am never quite satisfied with the music that my Pandora station ...

Royal Teeth and American Authors at Larimer Lounge

By Monday, June 24, 2013 1 Permalink 0

I didn't know who Royal Teeth were until Aimee invited me to go see them with her. I absolutely loved their song Wild, so of course I said yes. They were even more impressive in concert! They had this great energy on stage and I loved all of the percussion instruments they used (I'm a drum girl after all). Here's some video Aimee shot last time they played at Larimer Lounge: (more…)

Instagram Videos – How to Turn Off Auto-Play

By Thursday, June 20, 2013 0 Permalink 0

I have a few pet peeves when it comes to these new micro video apps, but that's for another day. Since Instagram announced their new video feature today, the social sphere has been turning Instagram feeds everywhere into strictly video feeds. My feed is literally all video, which start obnoxiously playing as I quickly scroll through my feed. While by default the Instagram videos have the auto-play option enabled, they built in the ability to turn off auto-play!!! Wasn't that nice of them? I was happy when they said the videos wouldn't loop, but this will keep my feed pretty clean, which is how I like it! Turning ...

FoCoMX 2013 – 5th Year!

By Friday, April 19, 2013 1 Permalink 0

This weekend marks the 5th annual Fort Collins Music Experiment. I've had the pleasure of attending them all and can't wait to get back up to Fort Collins this weekend! I've put my tentative schedule below. You'll notice that Friday is a bit sparse, this isn't because there aren't some great bands playing, but this is because I most likely won't be there. #sadface I will be at a wedding, so I've quickly compiled a list of bands that you shouldn't miss: (more…)

Stefan’s Winning Drum Solo

By Sunday, April 14, 2013 0 Permalink 0

Tonight I was showing Jon some old YouTube videos and realized that he has never seen the video of Stefan winning the talent show that lead to him joining the band, Tickle Me Pink. He was in High School and played an almost 4 minute drum solo. The crowd *loved* it! He won the whole talent show, beating Sean Kennedy (lead singer of Tickle Me Pink). This talent show is what lead to the formation of Tickle Me Pink. Don't you love it? I know I do. Kind of fitting as Sean is getting married this week to his lovely bride, Sara. Now, here's a newer video of ...

Aloe Vera Paleo Smoothie

By Saturday, April 6, 2013 2 Permalink 0

Growing up my parents had an aloe vera plant. I remember we would cut off a piece if we ever got burned and use the gel inside the leaves to help soothe the burn. Not only is the gel great for use on burns, but there are other benefits to aloe vera that one gets from eating the gel inside the plant. A quick Google search pulls up benefits such as halting cancer (they don't show any research that proves this, however), soothes inflammation, and can help heal stomach ulcers. Jon and I heard about the benefits of eating the gel from the documentary, Hungry for Change, ...
