It seems a tradition has started in the McMahon household: traveling for the Christmas holiday! A month after we got married we headed to Mexico with my family for Christmas in Mazatlan. Last year we spent Christmas Day traveling from Minneapolis to Denver, and this year we are headed to Ireland for Christmas. This will also be our first actual vacation. Andrew McMahon is one of my favorite singer/performer/artist and has been since High School. I've been lucky to meet him on many occassions, and see him perform countless times. He's coming back to Colorado at the end of October with his newest iteration, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. Last year Jonathon started to work with Betabrand on a design that he had drawn up years before: a hooded suit jacket. Betabrand is a San Francisco startup that has a ThinkTank which allows designers to submit their designs to be voted on. Once your design gets so many votes, Betabrand will create a prototype and allow people to pre-order (similar to Kickstarter or Threadless). Once the design's pre-order hits the goal, Betabrand will manufacture and ship this design out to their supporters. It is almost upon us, one of the last music festivals of the Summer 2014 season here in Colorado. Riot Fest has been in the news quite often due to the change in venue, and the fact that since it had it's 10 year anniversary in Chicago, they've extended the bands performing albums in their entirety to all three venues. The Higher Ground Music Festival was so much fun this weekend! The layout in RiNo was perfect for the 6 stages that were set up, the baby pools were great to cool your feet off in, the VIP areas were a great place to hide from the sun (although my sunburn clearly shows I didn't use these enough), the food and drink options were varied and delicious and the weather held out and only sprinkled a little bit over the course of the day.
