New Years Resolutions

That is not really the right title for this post, but it is January and I am attempting to get more exercise, so it seemed fitting.

No this post is not about my resolution to buy more boots/shoes (although I do need a pair of brown boots), but about my attempt to get more exercise.

Within the last few months Matt had started taking the bus to Pearl Street to work everyday, and would get off the bus early and take some time to walk a few blocks.

It was then that I started to realize that I really do not walk enough throughout my day.  I walk around the office, but that is about it. I get to work around 9, and sit at my desk all day long, only getting up to walk to get more water, go to the bathroom, or walk to the conference room for a meeting, then I leave between 5 and 6 to go home and sit on the couch. I am starting to feel quite lazy!!  That really cannot be many steps throughout the day and it cannot be very healthy.

So I decided that instead of eating lunch at my desk everyday, I would take 10-15 minutes to walk around the building a few times in order to get a bit more fresh air and exercise a day.

Since I knew I wouldn’t be able to force myself to do it everyday alone, I asked my coworker, Keyra, if should would walk with me.  Luckily she said yes, and so far we have done it 1 time (hey, it is only the 7th day of 2010).

Anyways, today is going to be our second day, and I am beginning to think we are a bit crazy. We decided that we needed to walk 2-3 times a week, and  it is currently 7 degrees outside (not including wind chill), and the ground is covered in snow which is covering ice. Knowing that we were going to attempt to walk today, what were my shoes of choice? That is right, the boots pictured above.

These boots are not snow/ice walking boots.  Lets hope I do not fall and hurt myself, but at least I can say that I am trying to keep up with my New Years-ish Resolutions!
