George Mason University band covering Rage Against the Machine. I love the flute player in red. She is really getting into the song! Kinda makes me want to play the flute again.
Bonus Oscar Video of Anne Hathaway and James Franco in Grease!
This is an amazing musical. Wish they had done this live at the Oscars tonight.
What Music Scene?
Let's face it, the music scene here in Boulder is, well, lacking. Okay even that is being a too nice. The music scene here sucks. There is no community for bands and artists, and even if there was a small, supportive one, there are no venues to accommodate local bands. When I think of venues in Boulder, I think of the Fox Theatre, Boulder Theater, Club 156 and maybe the Brick House at Lazy Dog. Both the Fox and Boulder theaters are too big for most local artists and likely too expensive to them as well. I have never been to Club 156, and the few times ...
Know Arcade Fire, Or Hipsters Will Kill You
Nice little spoof on the backlash Arcade Fire saw after they won a Grammy.
End of an Era
I have no idea what to expect when Tickle Me Pink takes the stage for the last time on March 5th, but I expect the crowd will be full of friends, there will be plenty of shots (Jagermeister and tequila), lots of hugs, hours of music and hopefully only a few tears. Either way, I am certain that the night of March 5th will mark the end of an era that I am very proud to say I have been a part of since the beginning.
Should I Remove This Video?
UPDATE: Thank you for the response! I did end up removing this YouTube video after reading your comments and chatting with a few other people. Thank you for your input! I have a ethical/moral question regarding a video that I took of a band during a concert (no, the band is not in the photo below). At the concerts that I attend, I always have my iPhone (and/or camera) in hand, ready to capture whatever may happen on stage (what can I say, I like to document my life). Most of these videos have been posted to my YouTube page. Some get more views than others, but ...
I Hope This Gets To You
Not only is the concept behind this video awesome (a guy is trying to prove to his long distance girlfriend that despite the distance, they can still be close through the social web) but the song is catchy and the video is fun to watch.
The Graduate – “Don’t Die Digging”
One of my latest musical obsessions is the band The Graduate. My friend Matt introduced them to me over a year ago, and I just recently saw them open for Ludo. They just came out with the following video for their new song "Don't Die Digging." After watching this video I could not get this song out of my head! This song is on their new CD Only Every Time which I highly recommend purchasing. The making of:
Calling All Musicians!
Are you in a local band? Want to be in a band but have a billion questions on logistics; where to start; legal ramifications? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you should come to the first ever FoCoMA: ProDev, a professional development series for musicians in Northern Colorado (and beyond).
Now Playing: Stubhy and The Bad Habits
One of my newest musical obsessions is Stubhy and The Bad Habits. The lyrics are also quite engaging. One of the best uses of alliteration that I have heard in a long time comes in the second verse: “and months and months of medication and mental masturbation.” I listened to this song on repeat all morning, and without fail my ears would perk up during that line every time (and make me smile a bit).
