I am discovering more and more that when I hear a band or song I like, I tend to play it on repeat for hours, days, months etc. So sorry if you see me post about my newest musical obsessions a lot, but when I say I am obsessed that means I have at least played it on repeat for an hour or more. My latest musical obsession is a repeat: The Graduate. But the obsession is not over the song (which do not get me wrong, the song is awesome, and a little Arcade Fire-esque at the end), but the video for Pull Me In ...
Current Musical Obsession – AWOLNATION
While at SXSW I got an email from my mom saying that this was her new favorite band and they were playing at Stubb's that night and my brother and I should try to go. I ended up going to the show alone, but AWOLNATION was awesome! I am so glad I checked them out. Their live show consists of actual instruments as opposed to the overly produced electronic version heard here (which is still really good). I had listened to them briefly before going to SXSW because I loved their song "Sail" but after seeing them live, this is my favorite song, "MF". WARNING: Lyrics ...
Unspoken by Darling Thieves
This song makes me happy, and the video makes me laugh, so it was the perfect little pick-me up since I was heading into a bad afternoon slump. I have been lucky (?) enough to see the uncensored version, but figured I would spare you all. Enjoy!
The Graduate – “Don’t Die Digging”
One of my latest musical obsessions is the band The Graduate. My friend Matt introduced them to me over a year ago, and I just recently saw them open for Ludo. They just came out with the following video for their new song "Don't Die Digging." After watching this video I could not get this song out of my head! This song is on their new CD Only Every Time which I highly recommend purchasing. The making of:
Now Playing: Stubhy and The Bad Habits
One of my newest musical obsessions is Stubhy and The Bad Habits. The lyrics are also quite engaging. One of the best uses of alliteration that I have heard in a long time comes in the second verse: “and months and months of medication and mental masturbation.” I listened to this song on repeat all morning, and without fail my ears would perk up during that line every time (and make me smile a bit).
3OH!3′s Double Vision Video
What a great concept for a video! It combines 2 of my loves: music and the internet. I am not a huge fan of the song (maybe it will grow on me) but this video is so much fun! I love that it was done in one shot and it looks like it would be a ton of fun to film.
