Every summer there are numerous concerts that get our blood flowing and our hearts racing. Tons of bands stop in Denver every year and Monika and I are more than lucky to live in such a great state where we get to experience the music that we do. This year the beloved band, The Expendables, are touring with Dirty Heads across the US (and a few stops across the country). For 15 years they've been touring the world, making music, and enjoying summer all year round. The Expendables recently gave us the pleasure of interviewing them about their life, music, favorite things, and what's ahead for ...
New Music Tuesday – Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra
This is another band that I discovered while listening to 93.3 online. Not sure why I hadn't heard of Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra before, considering she raised over a million dollars on Kickstarter and her album debuted at Number 10 on Billboard...without a record label! She just so happened to be coming through Denver on the same night that I discovered her. After listening to a few of her songs, I decided that I just had to go and see her and boy am I glad that I did! She put on a fantastic show and even crowd surfed while singing an entire ...
SummerGrind.
Pretty recently we had the opportunity (thanks to some of our favorite people in the scene) to attend the annual SummerGrind Music Festival. While I know that we are labeled as "indie bitches", I've always tended to be more of a punk rock bitch. The second that I heard that Leftover Crack, Orphans, Elway, and Potato Pirates were all going to be at the same venue in one day, in the sun, where I was able to get both BBQ and beer - I was first to sign up. Bands like these are by no means for the soft-hearted, they're practically what get me going every ...
Rolling Stones Women Who Rock – Sleeper Agent
I absolutely love Sleeper Agent. Every time I have seen them play, they put on a great show. I love how flirty and playful Alex gets with the guys in the band. They are fun to both listen to and to watch. Vote now to get Alex and Sleeper Agent on the front cover of Rolling Stone for their Women Who Rock contest! Just click the 5 stars, and then watch the video to see what I mean about how amazing they are.
Free Josh Lee.
Our really good friend Josh Lee needs to be free. Thanks to Mr. Thompson, "FREE JOSH LEE" fundraising t-shirts are available! Let's show our support for Josh, his talent, and his hard work. We all have such a huge amount of love for Josh and here at Indie Bitches, we personally couldn't imagine this beautiful music scene without him. This means the world to us, Josh means the world to us. I couldn't imagine being friends with a nicer, more genuine person than Josh Lee and quite frankly, we're incredibly heartbroken that this even happened. 2 different designs to choose from, $16 each, cash only. Every penny ...
Passion Pit – Take A Walk
I needed a little pick me up on this rainy Monday morning, and luckily Passion Pit had just what I needed. They just released their new song "Take a Walk" on their site, and you can listen for free! I can't wait for their next album to come out, or their show at Red Rocks (it will be amazing). Take a listen for yourself: Hopefully that will help brighten your Monday like it did mine!
Opinion: A Different Side Of Ke$ha
I'm not one of those huge Ke$ha fans, actually you could say that maybe I don't like her at all, but today I was reading a review done by Denver Westword on a collaboration that she did with The Flaming Lips, suggesting that it was "2012's most unexpectedly great collaboration". Clearly I'm a bit biased on this simply because I've never really taken Ke$ha's music career seriously. Even reading the things that she posts on her Twitter account really made me question what the hell this woman was trying to achieve. I fully understand that in this industry, as a musician, you have to keep people on ...

Popcult Covers Arcade Fire’s “Keep The Car Running”
Remember when I told you months ago that the band to look out for was Popcult? Well, here I am again this time with a flawless cover they did of Arcade Fire's "Keep The Car Running". I've definitely listened to this at least 7 times since I first started listening to it, something about their toned down MuteMath kind of sound really makes me fall in love with them. I expect these guys to be huge in no more than three years, without a doubt. Amazing, isn't it?
New Music Tuesday: The Foot. #localedition
Not going to Snowball this weekend? Don't worry, there is plenty happening right here in Denver! Come hang out with The Foot., Eldren, Take to the Oars and The Big Motif at The Bluebird on Saturday! The Foot. is celebrating their Double EP release which you can listen to now (and trust me, you will want to): I love that it starts out with a modem and ends with the "Goodbye" from AOL. Very classy, gents. Aren't you glad you listened to me? #youarewelcome UPDATE: The Foot. has just released a video for their song Ignorance. I absolutely love it! (Plus, who doesn't love looking at Jeff for 2 minutes?)
