So excited to see Ludo play the Marquis tonight! Here is the acoustic version of Love Me Dead from the last time they came to Denver in October: Their CD's remind me of a rock opera. The songs also remind me of Dracula's Lament from Forgetting Sarah Marshall: Hopefully I will get more video from their show tonight!
Latest Music Obsession: Paper Wolves
This latest band comes to you all the way from Australia! (Look at me branching out beyond my Denver roots :p) Ok, so while this band is from Australia, I have to fess up, I was introduced to them through a local band. Three years ago, Paper Wolves member, Mike Horbacz was in the band The Mile After and they toured with my brother's band, Tickle Me Pink. For my birthday that year, my parents gave me a trip out to California to see TMP play in Pomona and at the House Of Blues in LA. I fell in LOVE with The Mile After in Cali and ...
My *Tentative* UMS Schedule
The 11th annual Underground Music Showcase is this week! I have never been to this festival before, but I am excited to be going this year. Below is my first draft of my schedule (yes, I realize there are some overlapping times, but this is my first draft and it is mainly a list of bands I want to see). Making this list was hard work! There are over 325 bands playing 25 different venues, and of course, a lot of the bands I want to see are playing at the same time. Many of the bands below I have seen play multiple shows, so I am ...
It is official: I am going to Lollapalooza!!
I just booked my flight out to Chicago for this years Lollapalooza! I am stoked! It has been 8 years since my last Lollapalooza, and my first time seeing this concert in Chicago. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the music festival and the lineup looks amazing! My last Lollapalooza experience was incredible, as it was the last year that Lolla toured the US. That year I went with my brother and saw the following bands: Jane's Addiction, Audioslave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Jurassic 5, Kings of Leon, Billy Talent, 30 Seconds to Mars and The Donnas, just to name a few. This year ...
King and Queen of Summer
This Friday, Bop Skizzum and friends are going to be crowning the King and Queen of Summer. They will be picking 3 potential Kings and 5 Queens to compete for the title of King and Queen of Summer. I was going to apply, and then I chickened out (say what you want...I just couldn't bring myself to do it). I am just not a person that likes being the center of attention! Oh well, I tried. Kinda. I mean I filled out the application with LeVar, but couldn't get myself to submit it. Maybe if they do it again next year I will go for it. ...
Film On The Rocks – Summer 2011
UPDATE: Looks like tonight will be the night! Headed down to Red Rocks with My Body Sings Electric to see Air Dubai open for Pineapple Express. I cannot wait! This will be my first time at Red Rocks this year (seems late in the season, no?). Wonder Age by Air Dubai One event that I have never attended but always wanted to, is Film on the Rocks. I know, I know. I attend so many concerts and make it a point to get to Red Rocks at least one time a year, that you would imagine that Film on the Rocks would be included in my schedule. Sadly ...
The Limousines – in concert!
Back in February I shared The Limousines' video Internet Killed the Video Star. I had kind of forgotten about this band (been so focused with all the local shows), until I received an email from Soda Jerk letting me know that they are coming to town this week (June 10th to be exact) and are playing with locals The Photo Atlas. I am debating going their concert but haven't decided yet. Take a listen to their stuff here and let me know if you want to join me! Also, I updated my concert calendar, so take a look at all the shows I am planning on going ...
Eldren Music
Another local band I have been enjoying recently is Eldren. They haven't been around for too long, but they are already making their presence known in the local music scene. Head over to their website, Eldrenmusic.com, to listen to their album for free (player at the bottom of the page). If you sign up for their email newsletter you will also get a free download of their song Greetings (which is currently stuck in my head). They are also quite impressive in concert, so do not miss out on their upcoming shows this month. The first is on June 11th at the Larimer Lounge with The Foot ...
Google Music Beta Invite
Yay! I am one of the cool kids now! I just got this email: Now to upload all my music and play with it. I hope it works with my iPhone/iPad as the email states 'Android' devices. I also bought the $0.99 Lady Gaga album today on Amazon.com just to get the 20 gigs of cloud storage, so it will be fun to see which of these services are better. Now for Apple to come out with their own cloud storage option.
Denver Day Of Rock 2011 – Memorial Day Weekend!
I will admit, I got really excited when I saw the lineup for the Denver Day of Rock 2011! Not only does it mix some of my favorite local acts like Bop Skizzum, The Heyday and The Railbenders, but they also have some great bands from the 90's like Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers and the Gin Blossoms! (more…)
