New Music Tuesday – The Last Time by Gary Lightbody and Taylor Swift

By Tuesday, October 30, 2012 2 Permalink 0

Yes, I do like Taylor Swift. No, it isn't very 'indie' of me. But I like Gary Lightbody even more than I like Taylor Swift. So when I heard they did a duet on her new album, I had to find it, immediately. I think this song sounds more like Snowpatrol with backup vocals by Taylor, but I really like it! Take a listen for yourself. What do you think? I haven't bought Taylor's new album, but I am definitely thinking about it. Especially because I love this song.

Adele – Skyfall Video

I heard the snippet for this song earlier in the week and couldn't wait to hear the whole thing. This song is the definition of a James Bond theme song, but I love it. I didn't really watch the video as the lyrics aren't really that hard to figure out, but this song just might be on repeat for me today.

New Music Tuesday (OK, Fine, Wednesday) – Grouplove

By Wednesday, October 3, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Yeah, I *was* doing well last week, and then I missed Friday's post, and then I forgot to post yesterday. But to make up for it, I have a FREE concert to go along with New Music Tuesday Wednesday. Grouplove has been around since 2010 but have been gaining in popularity, especially after their song Tongue Tied was in an Apple iPod Touch commercial. After listening to the album, I am sure you'll agree that this will be a great show: Here is their video for Tongue Tied: They are playing the Chipotle Cultivate Festival on Saturday, October 6 at 3:45. So come to Denver, go check out ...

New Music Thursday – Andrew McMahon

By Thursday, September 27, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Another day, another band breaks up. Jack's Mannequin is no longer a band, but I have faith that Andrew will continue to make more music. Just listen to this song that he just recorded on a whim: His story of the song: one last song I have been well aware, throughout my career, how rare it is for a musician to have such a genuine connection with the people who support them. The reaction to the final JM shows have certainly crystalized those realizations. There is little I could do to express my gratitude for this, but if anything, this is a small token. Late one night ...

New Music Wednesday – Imagine Dragons

By Wednesday, September 26, 2012 0 Permalink 0

If you are friends with me on Facebook, or follow me on Rdio, you know that this band has been on repeat for me for the past few weeks. I first heard Imagine Dragons on 93.3 a few months ago, but it wasn't until I heard that they were opening for Awolnation that I actually listened to their EP. I fell in LOVE with it! I was bummed when I found out that their two nights at Summit Music Hall were sold out before I got tickets. C'est la vie. Here is the EP I fell in love with: And here is their brand new album that came ...

New Music Monday – Go Radio

By Monday, September 24, 2012 0 Permalink 0

I know I am probably one of the last people who listen to the radio as often as I do, but I love it! The other day at work I was listening to 93.3 online, and instead of playing a million commercials, they play more music! I have discovered many bands, both local and national, through listening to 93.3 via The latest discovery was Go Radio. I know, I know. Where have I been? This is the song I fell in love with, Go To Hell: Then I discovered that they have covered Adele as well: And? Their album just came out last Tuesday: Even better? I found ...

New Music and A Kick-Ass Show for $9.33

By Sunday, September 23, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Ok, so a few weeks ago I declared that I was going to bring you new music each Tuesday that I was digging. Unfortunately, I suck, and haven't been the best at keeping up with my end of the bargain, although I have found many new bands, songs and artists. So all this week, I am going to share the songs that I am obsessed with, or acts that I have recently discovered. Hopefully after this week I will get back into the habit of posting new music every week! Today I give you I Fight Dragons. Not only do they cover killer songs like Power of ...

New Music Tuesday – Rachel and The Kings – Underwater – Winners of Ford’s Gimme the Gig!

By Monday, July 23, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Not only does this post include a catchy new song, but a video on a few great artists. Even better? They are all local artists! My pick for a song this week is Rachel and the Kings' song Underwater. (Full disclosure, my brother is one of the Kings, but I do still love this song. It's been stuck in my head for weeks!) Rachel and the Kings went to LA with Bop Skizzum and Josh Blackburn for Ford's Gimme the Gig challenge. The winner got to record a song with legendary producer Don Was out of a Ford Focus. Rachel and the Kings were the lucky winners! The whole weekend ...

New Music Tuesday – The xx’s Angels

By Thursday, July 19, 2012 0 Permalink 0

I am so excited for UMS, and so disappointed in Green Day and No Doubt, that I forgot to post my New Music Tuesday pick! I was hoping this week would be a throw back to the 90's punk scene, but after listening to Green Day and No Doubt's new songs a few times, I just couldn't post them on here as my pick. Instead, going to go with The xx's new song Angels. Pretty much the opposite of 90's punk, but enjoyable nonetheless. Plus, they are coming to the Boulder Theatre October 17th! Now off to listen to more UMS bands!
