Civil Twilight w/ Churchill at The Bluebird 4/25

By Wednesday, April 25, 2012 0 Permalink 0

In case you didn't already know, one of our favorite local Denver bands, Churchill, will be playing a show tonight at The Bluebird with Civil Twilight. Churchill is also getting ready to play a couple of shows with well-known Denver locals The Fray on the 29th at The Palladium Ballroom and 30th at Stubbs Barbeque in Texas, which is already sold out. Monika and I have had such a strong love for Churchill's sound, there was no surprise when they were announced as the winners of KTCL's "Hometown for the Holidays" at Casselman's last year on December 17th. They've continued to wow us with their performances, ...

Tellerpalooza 2012

By Sunday, April 22, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Started in 2004, the ninth annual Tellerpalooza is nearing! Tellerpalooza is one of Denver's biggest elementary school fundraisers, if you were wondering what Teller was and why this is such a palooza, we're here to explain it to you. On Saturday, May 5th, at The Mercury Cafe, Teller Elementary will be holding it's biggest event of the year to help raise money with the help of Denver local bands, a bake sale, and the very popular "Wall of Wine"  where you have the chance to earn a box of assorted favorites from Teller parents. This year features the likes of some of our favorite Denver musicians ...

Festival season is upon us, and we can't wait! The first we are attending this year is FoCoMX, which takes place in Fort Collins on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14. Tickets are only $20 and that gives you access to 300+ bands playing at 30+ venues taking place over 2 days. Tickets are still available, so don't wait! It is becoming more and more apparent that Kaila and myself have differing tastes in music, so we have each crafted our own schedules for the weekend. Kaila's: Monika's: Any bands that we are missing that we *must* see? Let us know, or find us at FoCoMX and say hello! ...

Popcult Covers Arcade Fire’s “Keep The Car Running”

By Monday, April 9, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Remember when I told you months ago that the band to look out for was Popcult? Well, here I am again this time with a flawless cover they did of Arcade Fire's "Keep The Car Running". I've definitely listened to this at least 7 times since I first started listening to it, something about their toned down MuteMath kind of sound really makes me fall in love with them. I expect these guys to be huge in no more than three years, without a doubt.   Amazing, isn't it?

Upcoming CD Release: Carbon Choir

I first fell in love with Carbon Choir months ago, their crystal-clear sound, soothing guitar chords and warm tones were something that really stuck to me. This band has the kind of effect where you can blast their music on your stereo while driving in your car to absolutely nowhere, just taking in the sun and thinking about life. Joel Van Horne's (lead singer) voice still gives me goosebumps every time I hit "play" on my iPod and that being said, Carbon Choir's interlocking sound of indie and alternative rock have boldly sufficed my music taste buds. Luckily, we here at Indie Bitches were given the pleasure ...

fun. with Sleeper Agent

By Tuesday, April 3, 2012 0 Permalink 0

fun. has been everywhere the past few weeks. It is no surprise that their three CO shows have sold out this week. Luckily I have snagged to tickets to both their Fort Collins show (Aggie) and their Denver show (Ogden). I can't wait to see them, but I am also really excited to see Sleeper Agent again! I was so impressed with them last year, I am sure they have only gotten better. If their performance of Get Burned on Jimmy Fallon is any indication, I will not be disappointed this week: And just for fun, here is fun.'s video of We Were Young: (Yes, this video does creep ...

Friday Night Concert – Crocodiles and Bleeding Rainbow at Larimer Lounge

By Friday, March 2, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Have I been living under a rock? Likely. Either way, I was just introduced to this awesome band, Crocodiles, who apparently was a hit at last year's CMJ Music Marathon in NYC. They are playing tonight with Bleeding Rainbow (who if you Google "bleeding rainbow band" the first result? readingrainbow.bandcamp.com - AWESOME!) at the Larimer Lounge. I Need Some New Best Friends

By Friday, February 24, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Even though I attend hundreds of concerts a year (not exaggerating), it is very rare that I go alone. I can almost always find someone else to go with, or know of other people already going. That being said, there are 2 concerts I am going to on Friday that no one will go to with me! You read that right. I am going to 2 concerts on Friday. The first show of the night is Every Avenue. They are a band that I discovered through Rdio.com actually. I was listening to some band radio station and their song came on. I was instantly hooked, and have ...
