The Hate Album Release Show on 6/15 ft. In The Whale and All Capitals.

After an incredibly hectic week of concerts last week (what else is new), this week is nothing short of the exact same agenda. As I'm sure many of you are already planning, and if you're not you should be, Monika and I will be at Warped Tour this Sunday - we're stoked. It's going to be a really great weekend-topper even more so however when The Hate hosts their album release show at The Hi-Dive with In The Whale and All Capitals. I've had a couple chances to listen to the new album thanks to our good friend Mark, bassist for The Hate, and I'm more ...

Featured Band Discovery: Strange Americans

By Sunday, May 27, 2012 1 Permalink 0

Just a few hours ago I went down into the madness that was Denver Day of Rock to go see and visit with the guys in Air Dubai. Monika had a family day so I was all by my lonesome which doesn't happen too often at music events, this was actually the first time at a festival I went solo. Of course with the people who don't know how to walk quickly, children, and drunks it was a lively time in the sun (not complaining because I actually really enjoy festivals) but anyways, getting onto subject....as I was waiting for Air Dubai to finish setting up, ...

Fighting For Fessler: An Event Of Support

By Tuesday, May 8, 2012 0 Permalink 0

An extremely important event is happening this Thursday, May 10th at 7:00PM at The Marquis. Of course all of the local music events that we support are held very closely to our hearts but this Thursday, with the help of our friends in Della, Monroe Monroe, Mr. Right, and The Marquis Theater, we're able to support something that is literally going to be life changing. "Fighting For Fessler" is an event in support of a good friend of mine, Luke Mehrens', girlfriend Abby Fessler. I've had the pleasure of meeting this beautifully strong woman a few times, but last month Abby was unexpectedly diagnosed with  T-CELL Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL). ...

Featured Band: The Say So

Down here at Indie Bitches we get to have some of the greatest experiences, from going to numerous shows in the Denver Metro area all the way to getting to listen to tracks before they're officially released. Thanks to alternative rock band The Say So, we were able to recieve a couple copies of their first CD before anyone else, set to be released on Friday, June 8th at The Hi-Dive with Take To The Oars (we sure do seem to mention these guys a lot) and Eldren. The Say So is a four part Denver-based band consisting of members Sean Palmer (vocals, guitar), Noah Fisher ...

Lovedrug + Take to the Oars + Post Paradise = Amazing Denver Night

By Sunday, April 29, 2012 0 Permalink 0

On Tuesday, May 1, two of our local favorites will be opening for Lovedrug at the Hi-Dive in Denver. This is definitely a show you don't want to miss. We have blogged about Take to the Oars many, many times before, but we still can't get enough of them! Can you blame us? Take a look at their video for Bar Talk: But also opening for Lovedrug is Post Paradise, Monika's current band crush. https://twitter.com/monikarun/status/186324385555169280 How could you not love a cello rock band? Listen to this and tell me you don't love it: Then there is the headliner, Lovedrug. They remind me of Manchester Orchestra with a little Mute ...

Civil Twilight w/ Churchill at The Bluebird 4/25

By Wednesday, April 25, 2012 0 Permalink 0

In case you didn't already know, one of our favorite local Denver bands, Churchill, will be playing a show tonight at The Bluebird with Civil Twilight. Churchill is also getting ready to play a couple of shows with well-known Denver locals The Fray on the 29th at The Palladium Ballroom and 30th at Stubbs Barbeque in Texas, which is already sold out. Monika and I have had such a strong love for Churchill's sound, there was no surprise when they were announced as the winners of KTCL's "Hometown for the Holidays" at Casselman's last year on December 17th. They've continued to wow us with their performances, ...

Tellerpalooza 2012

By Sunday, April 22, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Started in 2004, the ninth annual Tellerpalooza is nearing! Tellerpalooza is one of Denver's biggest elementary school fundraisers, if you were wondering what Teller was and why this is such a palooza, we're here to explain it to you. On Saturday, May 5th, at The Mercury Cafe, Teller Elementary will be holding it's biggest event of the year to help raise money with the help of Denver local bands, a bake sale, and the very popular "Wall of Wine"  where you have the chance to earn a box of assorted favorites from Teller parents. This year features the likes of some of our favorite Denver musicians ...

FoCoMX 2012 – Indiebitch Style

By Tuesday, April 10, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Festival season is upon us, and we can't wait! The first we are attending this year is FoCoMX, which takes place in Fort Collins on Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14. Tickets are only $20 and that gives you access to 300+ bands playing at 30+ venues taking place over 2 days. Tickets are still available, so don't wait! It is becoming more and more apparent that Kaila and myself have differing tastes in music, so we have each crafted our own schedules for the weekend. Kaila's: Monika's: Any bands that we are missing that we *must* see? Let us know, or find us at FoCoMX and say hello! ...

Upcoming CD Release: Carbon Choir

I first fell in love with Carbon Choir months ago, their crystal-clear sound, soothing guitar chords and warm tones were something that really stuck to me. This band has the kind of effect where you can blast their music on your stereo while driving in your car to absolutely nowhere, just taking in the sun and thinking about life. Joel Van Horne's (lead singer) voice still gives me goosebumps every time I hit "play" on my iPod and that being said, Carbon Choir's interlocking sound of indie and alternative rock have boldly sufficed my music taste buds. Luckily, we here at Indie Bitches were given the pleasure ...
