It is official: I am going to Lollapalooza!!

By Tuesday, July 12, 2011 1 Permalink 0

I just booked my flight out to Chicago for this years Lollapalooza! I am stoked! It has been 8 years since my last Lollapalooza, and my first time seeing this concert in Chicago. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the music festival and the lineup looks amazing! My last Lollapalooza experience was incredible, as it was the last year that Lolla toured the US. That year I went with my brother and saw the following bands: Jane's Addiction, Audioslave, Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle, Jurassic 5, Kings of Leon, Billy Talent, 30 Seconds to Mars and The Donnas, just to name a few. This year ...

King and Queen of Summer

By Sunday, July 10, 2011 1 Permalink 0

This Friday, Bop Skizzum and friends are going to be crowning the King and Queen of Summer. They will be picking 3 potential Kings and 5 Queens to compete for the title of King and Queen of Summer. I was going to apply, and then I chickened out (say what you want...I just couldn't bring myself to do it). I am just not a person that likes being the center of attention! Oh well, I tried. Kinda. I mean I filled out the application with LeVar, but couldn't get myself to submit it. Maybe if they do it again next year I will go for it. ...

Film On The Rocks – Summer 2011

By Monday, June 20, 2011 0 Permalink 0

UPDATE: Looks like tonight will be the night! Headed down to Red Rocks with My Body Sings Electric to see Air Dubai open for Pineapple Express. I cannot wait! This will be my first time at Red Rocks this year (seems late in the season, no?). Wonder Age by Air Dubai One event that I have never attended but always wanted to, is Film on the Rocks. I know, I know. I attend so many concerts and make it a point to get to Red Rocks at least one time a year, that you would imagine that Film on the Rocks would be included in my schedule. Sadly ...

My Dad got fired and all I got was this tweet

By Friday, June 17, 2011 0 Permalink 0

When major life events happen, people used to call, or at least email or even text family members to let them know what is going on. Those days are apparently gone. Now to find out major news, all we have to do is log on to our favorite social networks to discover what everyone is up to. Trust me, I am probably the worst at this. I will tweet before texting and definitely facebook over calling. But, apparently my family doesn't mind it: However, today I was on the other end of this new phenomenon: (and it was not the first time): You may not think that my ...

Rapportive – Social Networks of Who Emails You

By Wednesday, June 15, 2011 1 Permalink 0

Over the past few months I have downloaded and participated in many labs for gmail plugins that are supposed to help with everything from label organization, to allowing me to 'unsend' an email (it really comes in handy). But by far my favorite and most used email plugin is Rapportive. They describe themselves as company that gives rich contact profiles from inside Gmail, but what they do is provide links to social networks from people who email you. Sounds pretty complicated, but all it really does is show you the last few tweets or Facebook updates alongside of the email you are reading. It comes in handy both ...

Selling To Me In A Digital World

By Tuesday, June 14, 2011 0 Permalink 0

My inbox is constantly filling up with requests from people asking 'for just 15 minutes of your day' for a phone call, or a brief introduction to their services that they are trying to sell me. Most of these emails are immediately archived or trashed, never to receive a response from me. I have honestly stopped reading most of them as people spell my name wrong, email me from a gmail account instead of a company URL, or are clearly cutting and pasting from previous emails to other people (it shows up in blue people! Come on!). Recently though, I have had a few people actually take ...

The Limousines – in concert!

By Thursday, June 2, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Back in February I shared The Limousines' video Internet Killed the Video Star. I had kind of forgotten about this band (been so focused with all the local shows), until I received an email from Soda Jerk letting me know that they are coming to town this week (June 10th to be exact) and are playing with locals The Photo Atlas. I am debating going their concert but haven't decided yet. Take a listen to their stuff here and let me know if you want to join me! Also, I updated my concert calendar, so take a look at all the shows I am planning on going ...

Eldren Music

By Wednesday, June 1, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Another local band I have been enjoying recently is Eldren. They haven't been around for too long, but they are already making their presence known in the local music scene. Head over to their website, Eldrenmusic.com, to listen to their album for free (player at the bottom of the page). If you sign up for their email newsletter you will also get a free download of their song Greetings (which is currently stuck in my head). They are also quite impressive in concert, so do not miss out on their upcoming shows this month. The first is on June 11th at the Larimer Lounge with The Foot ...

MorningPics

By Tuesday, May 31, 2011 0 Permalink 0

Every morning, the first thing I do when I wake up, is check my email. I absolutely love reading my email from Abe (4squareand7yearsago.com) to remind me where I was last year. Today I have discovered a new email service from Brenden Mulligan - MorningPics. This service sends you an Instagram photo to your inbox every morning (and we all know how many Instagram photos I take). Most of my Instagram photos are of dogs, or fun times with friends, so I am sure that waking up to these images will brighten my day. MorningPics is still in Beta, and I am not on the list yet, but ...

Google Music Beta Invite

Yay! I am one of the cool kids now! I just got this email: Now to upload all my music and play with it. I hope it works with my iPhone/iPad as the email states 'Android' devices. I also bought the $0.99 Lady Gaga album today on Amazon.com just to get the 20 gigs of cloud storage, so it will be fun to see which of these services are better. Now for Apple to come out with their own cloud storage option.
