Featured Band: The Say So

Down here at Indie Bitches we get to have some of the greatest experiences, from going to numerous shows in the Denver Metro area all the way to getting to listen to tracks before they're officially released. Thanks to alternative rock band The Say So, we were able to recieve a couple copies of their first CD before anyone else, set to be released on Friday, June 8th at The Hi-Dive with Take To The Oars (we sure do seem to mention these guys a lot) and Eldren. The Say So is a four part Denver-based band consisting of members Sean Palmer (vocals, guitar), Noah Fisher ...

Lovedrug + Take to the Oars + Post Paradise = Amazing Denver Night

By Sunday, April 29, 2012 0 Permalink 0

On Tuesday, May 1, two of our local favorites will be opening for Lovedrug at the Hi-Dive in Denver. This is definitely a show you don't want to miss. We have blogged about Take to the Oars many, many times before, but we still can't get enough of them! Can you blame us? Take a look at their video for Bar Talk: But also opening for Lovedrug is Post Paradise, Monika's current band crush. https://twitter.com/monikarun/status/186324385555169280 How could you not love a cello rock band? Listen to this and tell me you don't love it: Then there is the headliner, Lovedrug. They remind me of Manchester Orchestra with a little Mute ...

Opinion: A Different Side Of Ke$ha

By Saturday, April 28, 2012 1 Permalink 0

I'm not one of those huge Ke$ha fans, actually you could say that maybe I don't like her at all, but today I was reading a review done by Denver Westword on a collaboration that she did with The Flaming Lips, suggesting that it was "2012's most unexpectedly great collaboration". Clearly I'm a bit biased on this simply because I've never really taken Ke$ha's music career seriously. Even reading the things that she posts on her Twitter account really made me question what the hell this woman was trying to achieve. I fully understand that in this industry, as a musician, you have to keep people on ...

Civil Twilight w/ Churchill at The Bluebird 4/25

By Wednesday, April 25, 2012 0 Permalink 0

In case you didn't already know, one of our favorite local Denver bands, Churchill, will be playing a show tonight at The Bluebird with Civil Twilight. Churchill is also getting ready to play a couple of shows with well-known Denver locals The Fray on the 29th at The Palladium Ballroom and 30th at Stubbs Barbeque in Texas, which is already sold out. Monika and I have had such a strong love for Churchill's sound, there was no surprise when they were announced as the winners of KTCL's "Hometown for the Holidays" at Casselman's last year on December 17th. They've continued to wow us with their performances, ...

Started in 2004, the ninth annual Tellerpalooza is nearing! Tellerpalooza is one of Denver's biggest elementary school fundraisers, if you were wondering what Teller was and why this is such a palooza, we're here to explain it to you. On Saturday, May 5th, at The Mercury Cafe, Teller Elementary will be holding it's biggest event of the year to help raise money with the help of Denver local bands, a bake sale, and the very popular "Wall of Wine"  where you have the chance to earn a box of assorted favorites from Teller parents. This year features the likes of some of our favorite Denver musicians ...

FoCoMX 2012 – Monika’s Schedule

By Tuesday, April 10, 2012 0 Permalink 0

I've been both attending and volunteering for FoCoMX for the past 3 years Here are just a few videos from FoCoMX that I have taken over the past few years. I know I have many more, but sometimes I get overwhelmed with the number of photos and videos I take, so I will try to add more over the coming days. There are so many bands participating this year, it has been really hard for me to come up with a schedule. Below is round one of my tentative schedule for the weekend. I know it is lofty as many of the bands play at the same time, ...

Popcult Covers Arcade Fire’s “Keep The Car Running”

By Monday, April 9, 2012 0 Permalink 0

Remember when I told you months ago that the band to look out for was Popcult? Well, here I am again this time with a flawless cover they did of Arcade Fire's "Keep The Car Running". I've definitely listened to this at least 7 times since I first started listening to it, something about their toned down MuteMath kind of sound really makes me fall in love with them. I expect these guys to be huge in no more than three years, without a doubt.   Amazing, isn't it?
