This Thursday! Come hang out with me at (where else) a concert! Fort Collins band Fierce Bad Rabbit will be making the trek to Boulder to play at the Brickhouse (next to Lazy Dog). Here is video of Fierce Bad Rabbit playing the Westword showcase at SXSW:
Guilty Pleasure
This Friday I had a random run in with my favorite Denver family, Aimee, Bryan and Declan and they introduced me to the wonderful world of Eurovision. I can now say that I am team Jedward: Ok, I will admit, they are the only 'band' I have seen from Eurovision, but I stand by my choice. UPDATE: Ok I clearly need to watch this show next time it is on, or maybe even host a party to watch the 2011 series because Aimee also just shared this gem with me, Moldova: Who wants to start a Eurovision party in Boulder with me?
Friday afternoon pick me up – AM Taxi – Fed Up
After spending all day listening to System of a Down, trying to decide if I want to see them in concert next week, I decided I needed to switch it up a bit. Luckily I saw AM Taxi tweet that their video for Fed Up was back on YouTube after EMI pulled it a few months ago. This is just what I needed to listen to on a gorgeous Friday afternoon, so I thought I'd share! Enjoy!
Latest non-tech, non-music obsession
About a week ago my roommate, Patty, came home from Target with a new water bottle. She told me that I should go to Target and get one and then blog about it, because it is that great. I didn't believe her, but when I found myself at Target last night, I couldn't help but track down this new water bottle and buy one for myself. Yes, it has been less than 24 hours with my new water bottle, but I already love it! The thing that makes this Groove CamelBak water bottle so awesome is that it has a built in filtration system. It ...
Westword Music Showcase 2011 Local Lineup
Finally the Westword Music Showcase local lineup has been announced, and it looks to be another great year! While I didn't get to see as many bands last year as I would have liked, I fully intend to make the most of this year. Some of the bands I am looking forward to seeing are: Air Dubai, Bop Skizzum, Fierce Bad Rabbit, Boys, John Common, The Knew, My Body Sings Electric, Monroe Monroe, Snake Rattle Rattle Snake, Vices I Admire, Take To The Oars, Caleb Slade just to name a few!
Missing The Good Old Days
My dad found this clip of Tickle Me Pink performing The Time Is Wrong in Wyoming on SoundCloud earlier this week and I have been listening to it on repeat. Nbehnke (the person who mixed the live version) did a really good job at capturing what the live concert feels like. Listening to this song really made me miss going to so many TMP shows. Tickle Me Pink - The Time Is Wrong by nbehnke Maybe this is why I am in search for new local bands to follow, I need to get my fix of local music!
Mother Fuckin Be There
Join me for more local music this Friday at Road 34 (bonus: it is Sean Bennett of The Heyday's birthday on Saturday): If that video wasn't enticing enough for you to make the trek to Fort Collins on Friday to see The Heyday, Eldren and BlackHounds, then maybe this video of Eldren from their show last week at Marquis with My Body Sings Electric will be: Plus the BlackHounds look like a fun band to party with:
Video from Mountain of Arms
For anyone that did not heed my advice and missed out on Mountain of Arms last weekend, you are in luck, I took a ton of videos! Here are some of my favorites: Bop Skizzum covering Florence and the Machine's Dog Days Are Over Eldren: Acoustic Air Dubai: Petals of Spain singing Lady Luck: Here is a playlist of all the Mountain of Arms videos (and link to them all on my YouTube Mountain of Arms page): Hopefully you have learned from your mistakes if you were not there and will pay attention to my list of upcoming local concerts next time! :)
We So Excited. We Gonna Have A Ball
Here comes another great weekend of local concerts in Denver! I have added a Google Calendar to my blog (on the right) that details the list of upcoming concerts I plan on attending. Please let me know if I have missed any that you think I should be attending.
Who The Hell Is The Easter Bunny?
I have received no less than 5 different emails/text/fb messages today that have referenced lyrics from Rebecca Black's horrifically, intoxicating song. This has forced me to listen to as many other songs as loudly as possible to drown out Friday from repeating in my head. Unfortunately I stumbled on this video, and while the lyrics have been altered (and are high-larious!) I still have that damn song in my head. This song/video is worth watching, even if it means having 'we-we-we so excited/I I I so crucified' repeating in my head: Gotta eat fish on Friday!
